The Money Fix - Repararea Banilor

Seriously... this guy is a very broad intelligence comic genius! Aside from his "Hippy" liberal unnecessary / crude shock value vulgarity. I do... so enjoy his underlying highly cerebral philosophical & social commentary comedy sarcasm! So George comically acknowledges there MUST BE some "higher power in control that is in control of EVERYTHING"! 100% right on brotha! George says, it's "the big (dumb / impersonal) electron" that blindly just keeps things perfectly & consistently humming for billions of years. "Woah... woah... woah"...! So, I would ask George (or anyone)... how did... that... big dumb electron... get there??? How can some dumb (supposed all mighty) electron without any intelligence decide to come into existence out of NOTHINGNESS and keep everything in a perfect intelligent, unceasing, immutable order beyond anyone or anything else's power??? Science has proven & knows... that there was a time when no matter... & NOTHING... existed! Poor George! For all his knowledge and intelligence... he comes close, but never goes further & misses the answer he (and everyone else) is looking for! It is the Creator [God]... that made "the big electron" & everything else! I just thought I'd be a little cerebral like ol' George. Much to his surprise... I know he'll finally get his answer... even though he didn't before he died! 😊

I grew up in the 50's and 60's with Carlin being arrested and yet growing in popularity. Now, that I've lived past Carlin's age (Carlin died at 71-72 in 08) and I'm closer to 75 than 74, I can see his whole point of view and Place in society. Carlin was simply Smarter than most. So called Comedians that are worth their salt, ARE highly intelligent. Today, it's nearly all good comedians that are Commentators on the Irony of today's society and World! I enjoy Carlin's tenacity because I feel it in myself today when Watching this Country and World Going Down in the Final Swirl of the toilet! (Yes! We are THAT Close!) If Carlkin lived until today (2024) he'd shit himself! Not only was he Right about 90% but it's even gotten worse than even he expected! Today, Carlin is "Taking the Place" of a good and smart father or Granddad! Eyes wide open, full of correct information and perspective and spanning the gap between Fear of others and himself to simple Disgust! Carlin was a secular Prophet and as good as they came back then. Today, we have other, younger Comedians that have Seen this Country's destination (Hell) and are or already Transitioned into ''Weeping Prophets" but with a side order of Irony!

Many comics today hardly make me smile, much less laugh. George, however, never gets old., he’s timeless and was way ahead of his time. A true giant. He always made me laugh and still does. But even better, he makes me think.

George Carlin is a fucking genius. He somehow manages to piss off both the left and religious right at the same time and shows how stupid both sides really are. One of the few individuals who truly understands nuance and sees through all the BS in the world.

I think this is a good satire because we indeed should think about saving the planet. Most damage is done by big corporations and government rules. So in another words, only common people think about saving the planets, while companies do the most damage. We should let big companies get away with the highly proportional damage they've done.

Just to point out what's already been pointed out numerous times: George Carlin was able to not just intertwine his "meta" (and I'm only using "meta" and in quotes because I don't know how to express it better) thoughts with comedy: he was telling these thoughts and then they became comedy, just by the virtue of these thoughts being funny. Basically, what he said was already humorous on its own but the main point was backwards, to actually think about this seriously, even though those might seem only a matter to laugh about. Which basically brings us to the definition of a comedian, I know, but... So, basically, he was telling it as it is, and whether it was funny or not, he did not care much, I assume (considering his books especially). So, the "comedian" role was his way to convey all this in a "comedic fashion", but these all was just truths of such magnitude that, regardless of whether you laugh or don't, you had to take into account More recent comedians don't seem to approach this for whatever reason. Maybe it's just because everything worth saying has already been said P.S. It might be just a temporary affection but here's a thought: Stewart Lee makes comedy truth, while Carlin makes truth comedy

Love it. If we want to live, we need the planet to be habitable *for us*. Care about climate change, microplastics and all that? Good. I like the grandkids and thier grandkids to thrive as well as we have. Hopefully more so. But the planet? Well, our buildings will fall apart, blow away as rusty dust, and eventually subduction, leaving no trace. Plastics? Give it a few hundred thousand years, and mold and bacteria will happily evolve to chomp at it, just like their ancestors did with cellulose. Our creeds, ideologies, ideas, loves and hatred will die with the last of us, never to be rediscovered. And our bones, save in some astronomically rare cases, will return to dust. The only thing left of us, will be a lonely wanderer, with a golden plate on the side, taking the slow boat to Ross 248, making it's next stop some 40,000 years from now.

I love George Carlin, but he was way off the mark here. The endangered species we lose in the modern day are not just a byproduct of natural and regular extinction rates, but more often than not if anything brought to extinction by anthropogenic activities and environmental impacts. Worse, a fair few species are what are known as “keystone species”… you learn this in basic life science and biology. Keystone species are ESSENTIAL to their ecosystems, and make or break them. With them being extinct or taken out of the picture, you get trophic cascades. Shark finning is an example of this and the trophic cascade that would follow would wreak havoc on global marine ecosystems. A more profound example that has been heavily documented are gray wolves in Yellowstone National Park. After humans hunted and killed off wolf populations there the deer population skyrocketed. They destabilized roots of trees, changing the course of rivers. They impacted and destroyed beaver habitats, so called “engineer species”, who create niches that are filled by other species. Essentially, by removing a single species the entire ecosystem was thrown out of balance and into disarray. After rewilding and reintroduction programs were introduced, Yellowstone’s delicate ecosystem recovered and stabilized.

@@terracottapie6872 Sure. Wolves are NOT a necessary part of the ecosystem in the United States. They pose a very real threat to humans as their numbers grow, and their packs become accustomed to hunting around people. There are very good reasons for not reintroducing them. Deer and game populations are easily controlled through managed hunting, just like in every other state. People are quick to forget, or have no idea that Wolves in the US were hunted out because they became too problematic for humans. How much fun would it be to go skiing with friends and have half of your group stalked and killed by a pack of wolves? Or maybe have your child eaten while on a family vacation? They're not bears, not mountain lions, not alligators, they're a completely different beast and when they're in a pack of 50+ they're extremely dangerous.

It's crazy how people simply cannot wrap their head around the notion that pumping gigatons of C02 into the atmosphere is the sort of thing normally reserved for major geological events. Humans are absolutely capable of affecting the habitability of this planet. I know it's a comedy routine and all, but seriously: it's a thing. We're doing it. Every lightbulb and internet router is inextricably linked to the main source of energy we are currently using, and that energy source is altering the climate. It's less about whether a few subspecies of sparrow are going to "make it" and more about whether the interlocking web of food systems will continue to support the activities and scale of modern civilization. Plankton, algae, plants. We still need those, and evolution only goes so quickly xD
